Steven's Onevia build

Picture

November 2007

My story starts at the start of Nov 2007. I was in my last year of high school and looking for a car as i was obtaining my license in Feb and wanted to teach myself manual. At the time i was actually looking for a s 1-4 rx-7 but could not find one that grabbed my attention so i started looking around for other Japanese sports car sand started to like the s13 silvia very much. One day while i was at school i decided to skip maths class so i could have a 3 hour lunch break and i went with my family friend to have a look at some silvias, we made our way over to holford motors and we spoted this 1988 Q model ca18de s13 silvia that grabbed my attention and it was in my budget.

Novemeber 07 - March 08

After 4 months of teaching myself to drive manual and 2 driving lesions and 1 failed attempt at getting my license i finally got it. As a self reward i purchased a cannon and got it installed.

Good Friday in march i was taking my mate home and being a newbie to driving and still not knowing wat the car is capable of i was driving down a street put it into second gear around 50-60ks car got sideways and i tried to correct it but the car started to fish tail down the street and i didn't know wat to do so i slammed on the brakes causing the cars brakes to lock up sending me up a gutter threw a fence and taking out 3 fairly small trees, lucky the trees stopped me because i was about 1 meter from the bricks to some ladys house.
I cant remember wat needed to be fixed / replaced on the car but i had no car for 2 weeks. I cleaned up the old ladys front yard and took away the broken fence and trees to the local dump and help tidy up her front yard to show her that i was sorry for what i have done.

March 08 - December 08

Mid way threw 2008 the car had a small drift accident took out a fairly large chunk of concrete out of the kerb and the mirror scraped a light post still have the paint missing on mirror as evidence, but for damage nothing major just lower control arms and a few other little things that needed to be replaced aswell as a shattered wheel. Like i said nothing major so there was no need for pictures.

The car was just used daily since then until one afternoon at the end of november.
One day when coming home from a little drive i was driving along my old high school and had a blank moment and ended up rear ending a ea or eb falcon and the guy had a tow ball so there was no damage to his car but my car wasnt looking to good.

December 08 - March 09

This period of time i was deciding if i wanted to do a s15 strawberry front end conversion or a 180 onevia front end conversion. It took me a little while to gather enough money as i was out of a job and no car on the road. Late January early February i started gathering parts for the onevia conversion. I went over to Dom over at Holford motors so i could see wat he has that i need for the conversion and while i was there i picked myself up a new radiator support and got some pop up head lights with motors. The bonnet and guards i picked up from Steven over at Advance Jap Autos, the bonet and gaurds were in a faded red color and had a bit of scratches on them but i striped them back and sprayed them with spray cans in my back yard. I bought my CA 180 front bar from Luke Fink and i was lucky as it was the same color as the head light covers so while i was spraying the bonnet and guards insted of spraying the front bar and lights as well i should just spray the bonnet black to match the front of the car.

Towards the end of February Early march i had the radiator support welded on and all the bits of the car put back on so after about 4 mounths of the car being off the road it finally hit the road with a new front end.

August 09

Not much was done for a while, how ever i did manage to make my own air box enclosure using a sheet metal purchased from my local bunnings (check pictures section) and i also purchase some bc racing front and rear coilovers from just jap as well as some front and rear sway bars, rear strut brace, and a xtreme heavy duty ca18det clutch and just last week picked up a new flywheel to go with the new clutch. Once again like i said its been slow for a while now but things are starting to make a fair bit of progress, like always make sure you check out the video and picture sections of my site for regular updates.
Stay tuned DET head or possibly complete DET engine comming very soon.

December 09 - January 10

Very slow process car, ive picked myself up a ca18det with a spun bottom end fairly cheap that i will be transferring parts from that onto the current de.
Also got myself some rims DT05R 17x8.5+35 & 17x9.5+30 fronts currently have a 20mm slip on spacer to clear the brakes will be looking at getting some 20mm or more for the rears aswell pictures.
And during my fairly large spending spree picked myself up a r31 skyline really cheap that i plan on putting on gas and using as a daily while i build up the onevia.

Soon to come 20mm or bigger spacers, few more suspension goodies and go lower, weld my diff, get my exhaust tucked up, get or garden edge a lip onto the front bar and hopefully get the de+t running

April 10

No updates to be made just in between a few jobs at the moment and thinking about what i should do and in what order, 5 stud brake upgrade or go Thailand or start building up a motor. Any of the following after i get my other car on gas.

p.s its no longer a ca build...

August 10

Things have realy slowed down lately as ive quit another job then what i saved up when on insurance and rego for the onevia and the r31 daily so now waiting for my tax return befor i do anything else to it realy. Got a few mates to help me pull out and weld the diff and pop it back over the weekend, so easy to kick the car out sideways now and so easy to spin around and face traffic on a main street...need to get use to it now
